Frequently Asked Questions

How can you tell if your roof needs to be replaced?

Roofs should be replaced around the 20 to 25-year mark. By this time, important materials begin to fail. If you’re not sure of the age of your roof, there are a few signs it’s time for a replacement. Curled shingles, leaks, missing shingles, mold, internal water damage, dents, and bald spots are good indicators.

How to tell if your Roofing Contractor is legitimate?

After natural disasters or large storms, fly-by-night roofers come out of the woodwork. These roofers will show up at your door with a van and promise you the world. Don’t fall for these tricks. It’s always best to choose an established, local company such as Riedel Exteriors to perform roofing work. This will ensure you know who to turn to if you encounter problems.

What is the best type of roof?

There is no one answer to this question. The most common options for new roofs include asphalt shingles and metal. Both types have pros and cons. If you’re looking for the most affordable option, shingles may be a good choice. If you’re looking for something modern and unique, a metal roof may be better.

If my roof leaks, do I need a whole new roof?

It depends on why your roof is leaking. Older roofs with multiple worn spots and missing shingles will likely need to be replaced. If you have a leak coming in from the chimney or a single missing shingle, a repair may work just fine. Request your in-home inspection with Riedel Exteriors, we will determine how much damage has been caused by the leak and then make recommendations.
